Giving users what they need
For many applications and for many people, e-learning that can be accessed at any time, in any place, is the ideal way to get the skills and information they need. At Optimum we have a proven methodology for creating e-learning to meet the needs of your users.
Planning and vision
The first step is to identify the user characteristics and the content that needs to be included. Then we develop a vision of the e-learning required which will include:
What are the key messages and how / by what voice are they best delivered?
Should we include audio and video?
How do we account for different types of user and their learning preferences?
How will the e-learning be delivered and what constraints does that give us?
How will the e-learning be branded for most user buy-in
Detailed content outline
This gives the detailed content and format for each part of the e-learning. It defines things such as:
• what is being demonstrated
• any video clips that are to be used
• how the user is quizzed on the content to reinforce learning
• where the user is given the opportunity to explore
• what examples are used in the elearning
• how the user can access the different topics and how the navigation works
Development of content
We use a variety of tools to develop e-learning that is user-focused and based on your business processes, depending on the objectives and delivery platforms available. These include:
• Adobe Captivate, to create engaging, interactive, Flash-based web pages
• Webex to generate recordings of interactive sessions
• Microsoft products to create VBA-driven applications that allow users to interact with applications as part of a learning process
Testing and quality assurance
Our five-stage testing and quality assurance process allows us to be confident that the e-learning you deploy is of a very high standard. It has been road-tested by pilot users for user focus and usability, checked for flow and visual consistency, checked for spelling and style, checked for content and business process, and tested on its intended technical platform.
Deployment
Generally our e-learning can be deployed any way you like – you can host it on your intranet, deliver it through your own LMS, deliver it through our online LMS, or put in on CD or memory stick for physical distribution.
