Introduction to Photoshop
Who is the course for?
This course is designed for new users who wish to create or edit graphics created by scanning or from a digital camera. The course will provide an in-depth, hands-on overview of the capabilities of Photoshop.
Pre-requisites
You need to have basic Windows skills, including opening and saving, copying and moving information, and working with a keyboard and mouse.
What does the course cover?
Introducing Photoshop Understand the difference between vector and raster images; acquiring an image – scanning, digital cameras; the Photoshop environment The toolbox and palettes; understanding resolution and bit depth
Working with selections The principles of selecting pixels; cropping and resizing images; saving and exporting images; file format considerations; using the Lasso tools; using the Magic Wand tool; modifying and saving selections; adding and subtracting pixels to and from a selection
Using the Tools palette Working with the paint tools; using the clone, healing and patch tools; using the blur and sharpen tools
Working with layers Understanding the concept behind layers; creating layers; locking layers; applying layer effects
Working with colour An overview of colour; applying background and foreground colour
Text Creating text; manipulating text; adding warp effects to text; rasterizing text
